Michael "Mike" Matei is an executive producer for Cinemassacre Productions. The story centers around the alleged burial of over 1 million copies of the proclaimed "worst video game of all time", E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600, as The Nerd embarks on a quest to prove that there is nothing buried there after being pressured by fans to review the video game, while being pursued by federal authorities who believe he is investigating Area 51 and the crash of an unidentified flying object.

WatchMojo listed the Nerd as #10 in its Top 10 YouTube Celebrities, describing him as that "one guy playing video games in his parents' basement who made it a career". The AVGN reviews Toxic Crusaders (GB), Toxic Crusaders (Genesis), Toxic Crusaders (NES). The gameplay is nothing like a real Zelda game.

I'm sure someone mentioned this already but I think the reason why Mega Man's suit color changes with a special weapon is that the NES can only output so many colors on the screen at the same time. The AVGN reviews Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout (NES). Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie is finally wrapping up. So after that's done its theatrical run, it'll be nice for James and I to be able to focus more on web content again.

The AVGN discusses the confusing timeline of The Legend of Zelda series. Mike Matei's initial role for Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie did not involve production on the film itself. With collaboration from his friend Mike Matei, Rolfe put the Angry Nintendo Nerd videos on his website, , in 2004.

Matei was also the one who encouraged Rolfe to upload the first AVGN videos to YouTube , since at the time he only wanted to make a trilogy of them. I also edit James and Mike Mondays That comes out weekly, so that means 52 of those videos in a year. Instead, Matei started his own spin-off series called "Mike's Game Glitches", where he showed the audience how to perform glitches and tricks in video games.

The series centers on Rolfe's character "The Nerd", a short-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic who delivers commentary and sketches on retro games he considers to be of poor quality. The film follows Rolfe's signature Nerd” character as he reluctantly sets out to review E.T.” for the Atari 2600, widely regarded as the worst video game ever made.

The AVGN reviews Rambo (NES), Rambo: First Blood Part II (SMS), and Rambo III (SMS) The Nerd uses the last few minutes of the review to address the title of the latest Rambo movie, adding to points made in his Chronologically Confused about Movie Titles video.

So, we were in a position where there wasn't going to be any new web-videos from James on the website for roughly half a year. In the course of the interview, our guest discussed many key points he's made in past videos, what has inspired him to create Zelda content on Cinemassacre, and why he enjoys the series so much.

The AVGN reviews The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2600) This episode guest starts Mike Matei as Leatherface and Chop Top, and Steven J. Klaszky (credited as Jimmie Jim Slugg) as the hillbilly. So it's only natural I'd make Zelda-related videos. Cinemassacre editor and content producer Mike Matei still remembers the origin of The Legend of Zelda, and has created several videos involving glitches, swordless challenge runs, and even reviews.

Matei most notably works on Rolfe's famous Internet series The Angry Video Game Mike Matei Nerd , for which he co-writes, plays a variety of characters ( Jason Voorhees , The Cowardly Lion , The Joker , Leatherface , Bugs Bunny , a Klingon , Michael Myers , etc.), and illustrated the title cards for episodes 5-100 as well as 139.
